National Stocktake of Future Planning Initiatives

Jurisdictions developed a National Stocktake of Future Planning Initiatives for Families of People with Disability as part of the NDA Priority (c) Responding to the needs of older carers (the Stocktake). The Stocktake paper examines: information on government and non-government future planning policies, programs and initiatives in Australia; policy and service delivery gaps; and best practice features of future planning programs and initiatives. It should be noted that the Stocktake (completed in August 2011) is a “point in time” document - it is not a comprehensive stocktake of all future planning policies, programs and initiatives but captures a snapshot of planning initiatives in Australia at a particular point in time. At present, there are key policy frameworks progressing disability and carer reforms focused on enhancing the quality of life and participation of people with disabilities and their carers. Continuing work under the NDA, National Disability Strategy and the National Carer Strategy is contributing to outcomes focused on responding to the needs of older carers.
