National Disability Agreement
The National Disability Agreement, which replaced the Commonwealth State/Territory Disability Agreement (CSTDA) from 1 January 2009, forms part of the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) on Federal Financial Relations which was progressed through the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) in 2008. The National Disability Agreement is Schedule F to the IGA.
The overarching objective of the National Disability Agreement is:
People with disability and their carers have an enhanced quality of life and participate as valued members of the community.
The Agreement also aims to achieve progress towards the following outcomes:
- People with disability achieve economic participation and social inclusion;
- People with disability enjoy choice wellbeing and the opportunity to live as independently as possible; and
- Families and carers are well supported.
